Valorant Open Beta Now Live on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S : What to Expect

The popular 5v5 character-based tactical shooter Valorant is now available for free on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S through its console Open Beta. While the game itself is free-to-play, players can purchase Valorant Points from the console stores if they prefer to expedite their progress rather than earn the in-game currency through gameplay.

In a recent update on Xbox Wire, Riot Games introduced some new mechanics for the console version of Valorant. Notably, a new shooting mode called “Focus” has been added. This mode operates similarly to the PC version’s “Hip Fire” but features reduced sensitivity to better suit console play.

Andy Ho, executive producer of Valorant, shared in the Xbox Wire post: “We’re getting to the starting line as we like to say. This is a game that we don’t have an end date in mind for. We want to invest in it on an infinite horizon, so that players feel like their investment into the game is always going to be worth it.”

To mark the release of the Open Beta on consoles, Riot Games has also published a list of frequently asked questions on the game’s official website:

Do I need to register to join the Valorant Console Open Beta?
No, if Valorant is available on consoles in your region, you can access the Open Beta directly. If it’s not yet available where you live, you can add it to your wishlist to receive a notification when it becomes accessible.

Can I play Valorant with friends on different platforms?
Currently, players on Xbox and PlayStation can only team up with others on the same console. Cross-platform play with PC players is not supported to maintain competitive fairness and consistency.

Will my progress transfer between platforms?
Yes, your account will be unified across both console and PC. All progress made, including Battlepass levels, agents recruited, and skins purchased, will be saved and accessible on any platform. This means any achievements or purchases made on PC will be available when you log in on a console.
