Suspect detained after suspected road rage incident in Surprise results in the death of a man.

A road rage incident in Surprise on Saturday afternoon turned deadly, resulting in one man’s death and the arrest of another.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of 163rd and Grand avenues following multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting connected to a road rage altercation.

Upon arrival, police found 33-year-old James Nicholas Solano-Aguilar lying on the street with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

The suspect, 18-year-old Jaidev Christian Spicely, fled the scene before officers arrived. However, the Surprise Police Department was able to identify him through witness reports. As officers were en route to his residence, Spicely contacted them and voluntarily turned himself in.

Spicely has been booked on charges including second-degree murder, disorderly conduct with a weapon, and discharging a firearm within city limits.

According to the police, Solano-Aguilar was an active military member.

Authorities advise anyone involved in a road rage incident to remain calm and avoid retaliation. Instead, focus on safe driving and distance yourself from aggressive drivers. If threatened or witnessing dangerous behavior, contact law enforcement.
